With the SEMA 2008 0 show well underway in Las Vegas, a few - dare I say - caricature vehicles on exhibit feature green technologies on their powertrains. We do a rundown of the best seen so far and they’re mighty, mighty good.

Nissan Altima Hot Rod Hybrid

While there is understandably a divide between the import tuner culture and the green crowd, it’s all starting to change with the increasing adoption of hybrid automobiles among people concerned with rising fuel prices. The souped-up green Nissan Altima on the picture is a startling example of the new marriage between hot rod culture and green technologies, featuring a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine bouyed by an electric motor with a fitted supercharger. It adds a few solar modules up on the roof for an added green touch although its likely more for show than anything else.
Antarctic Bio-Diesel Truck

Called an unholy union of a Humvee and a snowmobile by more than a few observers, the biodiesel-powered, track-wheeled machine is intended to be used in a high-profile 2009 South Pole expedition called Drive Around The World . It uses individual electric motors for each set of tracks, infused with a VW diesel four-cylinder engine.
The BatSmart

The Smart Fortwo is turning out to be a huge success for Daimler-Benz with a registered 20,000 sales now completed in the US. Further proof that it’s beginning a serious reign is this Batmobile-inspired Fortwo. Words can’t describe how glorious this car looks.
With a 96 mph top speed though and a pretty wonky transmission system, I doubt Bruce Wayne’s excited.

[...] In Batmans recent technology update he has brought out his fastest piece of transportation yet which goes a full 96 mph so you better not try to run =). This is the BatSmart which is a Smartfortwo with a cool little twist. The greatest thing about this though is that it gets an amazing 46 miles to the gallon meaning you save more money and reduce your carbon footprint. In the U.S. there have already sold 20,000 Smartfortwos and its not stopping there. via gs [...]
